I must confess, I still believe is a performance piece, in which I wear a pink terrycloth dress with white tulle details, pink pumps, and a pink bucket filled with pink paint and pink roses. Well-known pop songs from the 2000s, each conveying a different image of femininity, are played loudly. The music starts unexpectedly during a gathering (e.g. an exhibition opening) — I enter the space and begin to write sentence fragments on the walls, using roses instead of brushes. The duration of the performance, the number and size of the sentences, as well as their placement, remain flexible.
This work shows the enduring presence of cultural images of femininity and romance — shaped by music, cinema, and childhood icons like Barbie — which continue to inhabit the imagination, even in the face of critical awareness and feminist self-reflection. They slip into daydreams, forming visions of love, romance and relationships.
