Exhibition Text, Eugen Borkovsky, VIII.2025
This art project takes place in uncertain times. Already the title chosen by AK68, “Free Passage,” points to the situation. This exhibition moves in the span between the heyday of capitalism and its decay. A culture of consumption is being forced upon us. […]
Many works of this exhibition are symbols of alienation and of questioning one’s own personality. Some awaken associations with memories, up to the exploration of the origins of quantum physics. We have realized that time is an uncertain factor for the assessment of processes – therefore we have added space to it. Space and time are now a unity (space-time), with which we – like with the meter, whose length, however, has no defined thickness – measure reality. […]
This project is shaped by urban and social aspects. The artists stimulate us to awaken thoughts – from experienced reality to constructivist, surrealist objects up to offerings of awareness. The project leaves, in view of the realities of the surroundings, a bitter aftertaste. Symbolically, the question arises of the transparency of the walls behind which we try to hide. The aesthetics of overripe capitalism are no longer able to determine what is real, right, or beautiful. More and more information appears, yet there is less and less meaning. Many works awaken confusion, closedness, the powerlessness of the individual. The resulting helplessness leads to withdrawal, isolation, a turning toward ourselves, and to questioning our position within the given circumstances of the moment.
This exhibition offers many possibilities of visualization: painting, sculpture, object/installation, photography, conceptual statements, performances … Some works radiate a certain hermeticism. The artists break through the dichotomy between art and life, by often using banal and inconspicuous materials and perspectives and transforming them into new visual offerings. They compile intuitively and partly analytically memory and experience. Most works contain hidden associations and prompts to reflection.
The artists pursue with artistic means their own processes, into which they immerse, supported by education, experience, instinct, and memory. They put forward the thesis that the conscious and the unconscious are part of the same life – for identity is a question of the freedom of the individual.
